When the requirements say that only Swing can be used in the project, does that mean one cannot used the package awt.* at all? What about Font, actionListener, GridBagLayout? Cannot use those?

I think it means we are not supposed to use Button, Canvas, RadioButton, TextField etc....which were used commonly before swing came into existence. yeah, in the pure AWT world.......
Instead, we are expected to use the Swing classes......JButton, JRadioButton, JTextField etc......in our assignment.
The layout managers are fine. Other misc classes like Color, Dimension, Insets etc...can also be used, even though they belong to java.awt.* package.
