You were thinking that maybe we should whip our user base for non-participation?
Well now, looking through YOUR post history I see that almost all of your interaction is asking for answers FROM JavaRanch.
Almost NONE of your posts are answering other peoples questions. (Although there are a few)
And you are COMPLAINING?
This is a volunteer site. If folks don't offer their efforts to others then questions don't get answered.
Think about it.

Just my own two cents, but when people do take the time to provide an answer, it's always nice when their help is acknowledged by the person asking for it. That way they don't feel like they wasted their time.

Oh! Never Cindy! I'm not complaining. I'm sorry if that post was offending.
And then, I'm aware of the fact "I'm asking for solutions and not answering many". I'm trying to improve the number of answers i post.
Jason,
I do post a 'thanks' for most of the replies and the link you have pointed is one of the few posts which i've missed. Thanks for pointing it out!

Ahhh! Another bright star brought into the fold!! We will look for your input with interest .
Hopefully your good example will encourage others to do the same, and everyone will end up with more questions answered by others (including getting yours answered).
Thanks for helping to make JavaRanch a useful (and hopefully fun ) place to go.

Right from the beginning I was counting on that. I always wanted to post more replies than questions. I made this post to thw JR forum when i was a 'greenhorn-just-turned-ranchhand', expressing my lament on this.
Here is a quote of that
yeah! Jim was right. I suggested conferring the ranchhand status for ppl who have made 30 replies. Actually this idea stemmed from my guiltiness of becoming a ranch hand by asking more questions and fewer replies.
