The essay exam will not ask you about any technical knowledge or specifications. They will be about 5 questions on the exam. All of the question asks about your design choices.
For example, they might ask you what kind of technology did you use to implement you network server, RMI or sockets. RMI and Sockets are the only allowable choices in the assignment. Then you have to tell them which one did you choose, why, and the advantages and disadvantages. All the questions will be of this type.
The puprose of the essay exam is to make sure that you are the one who did it, and you didn't pay someone else to do it for you. Another reason of the essay exam is to make sure that you made informative dicissions regarding your project designe, and not just did something without considering other choices.
Take the exam as soon as possible, while all the information still fresh in your mind. Reading your document should be enough, but if you are not sure of a particular choice, I suggest you go read more about it.
