How to start for SCJD

Hi Junta,
I want to get SCJD certified in next 2-3 months.I have few doubts in my mind.
0.Should I study first and become familar with RMI,Swing,Awt,JDBC etc or
should i take the assignment first and learn while completing the assignment
1.Can u please tell me the technologies I need to get familar with and proficiency required

I would ignore JDBC - I think 100% of the assignments are fetching records from a flat file and therefore you need to read up on java.io (and more specifically the RandomAccessFile object).

If I were you I'd start - see how far you get, panic, come back to this forum, talk through your doubts then get back on the Wagon!

Things to think about:

- design patterns, without know this you have no chance. look into MVC, Adpater, Facade and DAO.

I agree with James. Start the SCJD and use it as a learning experience. The best way to learn something is to actually do it. One fair warning, the SCJD is rather extensive... 2-3 months is feasible is you have a lot of time to dedicate to the project, but if you are only working on it part time (like me), it may likely take longer than that.

I would also recommend getting a copy of Max's Book. It will give you a realistic idea of the technologies required in the project. Good Luck!

Hi Junta,
I am still cofused.
How much time (maximum if i devote 10 hrs a day 5 days a week) will I require to complete SCJD if I only have the knowledge of java covered in SCJP 1.4 .

Please help
