Hi All,

I cleard SCJP few days back. As it seems, SCJD is the next step.

I really don't have any idea abt how to go for this?? What i know is...u will be given an assignment to complete and u have to finish is within a year.

Can someone tell me the complexity of these assignments...and a person who has passed SCJP but does not have a lot of programming experience in recent times...how will it relate to him??

I will appreciate any details abt this and how to start??? Any sample assignments??

Thanks
Prakash

Hi, Prakash! After taking SCJP, I took and passed SCJD. Compared to SCJP, SCJD is much more complex and requires persistence and dedication to complete. There is a good book by Mehran Habibi about the exam, and this forum is a lot of help. I found that SCJD was much more difficult than Sun said on its website (no wonder: they are all very experienced developers there.) It is not 20 hours; more like 200.

A really good analogy I saw on this forum: that SCJP is like learning about nails and hammer, but SCJD is learning how to build a table using them.

Hope this was helpful.

Hi,

I agree with everything that Anton said. In addition, I would like to point out that I have no professional work experience in this field - my only programming experience comes from school and on my own. I haven't submitted my assignment yet, but I am confident that I will pass.

The only materials you need to help you with this certification IMHO are the Java 1.4 API, the Java Tutorial, this forum, and a copy of Max's book.

Don't worry too much about being ready for the assignment. If you passed the SCJP exam, you've got enough to work with. IMO, this certification is the best learning experience that money can buy. With a little patience and enough time in this forum, everything will fall into place.
