Hello,
I passed SCJP last summer and never really studied JAVA for a while because of the school work(i'm an undergraduate csc student). Is SCJD a thing that I should start when I'm quite ready for it? Or is it better to get the assignment first, then doing it while I study for it? Which way would you suggest? Also, I see that the SCJP 5.0 or the newer version is coming up soon. Does anyone know if they(sun) would pronounce a new version of SCJD soon?
Thank you all in advance!

g3han,

Welcome to JavaRanch. Just FYI, your screen name doesn't meet the JavaRanch naming policy, and you are likely to attract the attention of a bartender if you don't change it.

As far as your questions, many people, including myself, have used the SCJD as a learning opportunity. I followed this forum for about a month before downloading my assignment so I had an idea of what I was getting in to. Also, I would highly recommend purchasing a copy of Max Habibi's book. It walks you through a sample project similar to the SCJD assignment. Unless the requirements have changed since I downloaded my assignment, there is no time limit to complete the assignment. Hope this helps!
