SCJD Exam

Hi guys,

I have recently passed the SCJP and planning on taking SCJD, there are couple questions i want to post on this site regarding SCJD.

I don't know my candidate id number of SCJP is it required when I apply for the SCJD exam? If so how could I obtain the id?

Now that Java 1.5 has been released, will Sun change the assignments for the examination any time sooner. Or is it alright to download the assignment and do it using 1.5 features.

Sun have suggested that they may be creating new assignments, however there is no indication on when. They have promissed that they will post in this forum when they do start work on the assignments.

If they follow their normal practice, they will post here for expressions of interest from people who would like to have input in what they believe should be in the certification. After some time they will pick which people they would like to work with - these people will be sent a survey. Some time after they receive the results of the surveys back, they will work on the assignment. Once they have it ready, it will be sent to those who completed the survey. It will then be taken away for special marking by Sun to see where the instructions need to be improved / where restrictions need to be added / ... Finally the new assignments will be assigned to the pool of assignments.

If you got the feeling that this might take considerable time - you are right!

You can use JDK 5 to complete any of the current SCJD assignments.

Hi Andrew,

thanks for the infor, it seems it will take quite a long time say may 6-12 months for sun to get the new assignments out. I think I will just get on with it now.
