Hi All,

I'm working on URLyBird 1.1.1 -- Can I make the assumption that database field names, data records and order will not be different than on the instructions page?

When reading the header of my .db the following order of fields are:

name
location
size
smoking
rate
date
owner

Can I assume that this is the order and that the field names do not change?

Thanks

Rahim

Yes the instructions are correct, the field layout should be as described, if not, contact Sun.

You can correctly assume (for the application) that the database column order (or anything else in the db) is not going to change. You are required to submit your assigment with the original untouched db that was given to you, (check instructions). As to the Data Driven Paradigm that you may be referring to: In relational land we access fields thru their names, which means that if a db structure changes, (ordering of rows) usually due to the Database Administrator changing row ordering for optimazation (usually based upon platform), the program should not have to be recompiled, programming based upon row ordering is a big no-no, however, this assignment is not using an RDBMS, but a non-delimited, fixed-lenght file (much like a COBAL Copy Book) and as such, any change in the db schema requires a change to the program.
