I am going to register for this. I would like to know about this before I do registration.

"The assignment should use database but not JDBC". This mean that do no need to use dabtase softwares like Oracle, Access, .. on back-end. But instead just ASCII or binary file. Am I correct??

You will be given a file and a description of its data layout. You will have to implement the methods specified by a given Interface to manipulate the file. The file will contain a mix of binary and ascii byte data.
