Hi there...
I can't believe what happened to me..Oh my God. I uploaded my assignment last week and scheduled March 9, 2006 (today) for the essay test. Well, I made sure that I get there today on time. The test Administrator at Prometric testing site did something terrible.
Now, He led me to the testing room, but he sat down on terminal instead. I asked him "What are you doing?", and he just answered me "Wait". I was swwing what this guy is doing. You know that the test starts off with a law agreement and instructions for using the testing software. The guy was just clicking the OK button like crazy, and all of the sudden, the printer outside the room started working. It turned out the he uploaded an empty test :-( I was too angry and frustrated, he tried to escape the responsibility. Now before continuing what happened afterward, i want to make afew things clear:
1. I didn't sit on the chair.
2. I didn't touch the keyboard
3. I didn't touch the mouse.
4. I didn't ask the Administrator for help.
5. I asked him what he is doing.

I forced him to contact Prometric Technical Support Office twice immediately. Also I asked him to send a report of the incident to Prometric (I have an original print out of this report with Prometric logo and the Administrator Personal Information on it). They offered me a free Voucher for the same test (of course they should). The problem is how will SUN view the whole thing? I am worried if they will ask me for re-submission of the assignment! I was struggling to catch the March 29 deadline. What should I do? The whole test took 20 seconds only. God, I am worried if I will fail before I even take the essay test. I had nothing whatsoever to do with this thing. What do you think will happen? what should I do next?

Wow, thats terrible!
Note to myself: don't let the admin touch my pc!

I think the best thing you should to is to telephone to your local Sun office as quickly as you can to explain this because if Sun doesn't know about this ... they can think you failed the test and you have to resubmit your assigment. On the other hand, they should notice the extreme short test time ... but you can only be sure when you talk to Sun directly.

Hi Hatim,

First thing - relax. This may not be as bad as you think.

I would contact Sun via email and tell them what happened. If the incident report has an incident number on it then I would include that information in the email to Sun.

This might not be a problem from Sun's perspective at all. They will be able to see when you submitted, and they will be able to see that you did (will do) the exam after that date, so they will be happy that you are following their rules. They probably won't care about Prometric's internal problems, since Prometric have given you a new voucher and their desired result (getting a completed assignment and exam from you) will be met.

Personally, I don't think that this will be a problem long term (although I can appreciate that you now have a lot of stress with not knowing). Good luck.

Regards, Andrew

Hi there...

Thank you guys for your support. Well, that's exactly what I did, I sent SUN an e-mail explaining the whole incident to them and included Prometric report as well. Andrew, I really hope it's not as bad. I did not receive the new Voucher yet, Prometric said that they must check the re-take policy. You know that there are some restriction on setting the same test twice, for instance, one can only re-take the Programmer test after two weeks. I really do not know what is SUN policy regarding this.
It's true, this is a Prometric internal problem, unless the "empty" essay test has been forwarded to SUN, then SUN also has to decided what happens. I am getting ready to go to the testing site now, they promised me that I can take the test again once they verify that there's no re-take policy. I am a bit relaxed now, I am expecting the worse but hoping for the best.

Thank you guys
Hatim

Hi there...
This is what happened today, Prometric re-scheduled me for the test tomorrow. Well, that sounds great. But Andrew you mentioned that SUN shouldn't complicate things since it's a Prometric internal problem. But what if they would! I did not receive a word neither from Prometric nor SUN until now, so it's very possible that the test I will take tomorrow is just a big joke, and has no impact on my grade since one has already been uploaded!
Well, I think, that I will take the test tomorrow, and I will try to ensure that the new test will be considred as my Certification second objective, I don't know how I could do that, but it seems like it's the only shot I got. I hope that SUN will respond to my e-mail today.
Thank you guys for your feelings and support, will inform you of new development once available. For now, i am just thinking of my test for the second time :-).

Hi there...
Thanx God. Andrew you were right, that wasn't as bad. Prometric emailed me today, and notified me that my second test will be considered part 2 of the Developer Certification. They have already disregarded the first test. Things look much better now and I am awaiting results already.
Thanx everybody for your constant and valuable support throughout my development period.
