Hello Everyone!

I'm writing the user guide. I'm thinking of doing it in html and from within the application. I looked at JavaHelp and think that we cannot use it as it is not standard. Is this correct understanding?

Any thoughts on how to display context-sensitive help for user?

Hi

Try a JEditorPane with setEditable(false) fro the "big help" and some tooltips forthe small help.

I don't think that context-sensitive help is needed.

that's what I did, and it looks pretty neat (except for the rather apalling level of html support in standard Java, still at 2.0 or so).

JavaHelp is indeed not allowed, as it's an external API and not part of the standard distribution (and you're not allowed to rely on any external APIs, not even those from Sun themselves).
