Hi guys,

A lot of people seem to be asking about this and yet no one seems to know what the right thing to do is.

1. Some suggest that when you read a string from the file you can do something like this:

2. Others say you should use ISO-8859-1 instead (as to how is another matter).

3. And to add to the confusion I read a post by Junilu Lacar at:

Junilu Lacar's 8 bit ASCII post

which says:

Got word back from Sun about this. Max Habibi was right: there was a typo in the instructions and it should read "7-bit US ASCII" instead of "8-bit US ASCII".

Does anyone know what's going on and what the truth of the matter is?

Cheers
