Hi Ranchers!!!

This is my first post in SCJD forum. I completed SCJP today and I am planning to take SCJD next. So I have few questions regarding this.

1. What is best way to prepare for this exam?

2. How long one should prepare?

3. I have no work experience in Java. Am I targeting the right certification.
Is it possible to achieve this certification even if I don't have any real work ex in java.

Thanks
Padma

Padma,

SCJPed.. Congrats.Let me answer your queries as per as my understanding of this exam.

1)You should have a knowledge of GUI Programming,Networking APIs,Database APIs and Thread programming. So if you still have something missing from the list go and learn them.Apart from these you should have some practical knowledge of Java Programming and OOPs concepts, that will guide you in being judisious in solving the problems.

2)The assignment is designed to take 120 hours.

3)It is desirable to have experience in Java development but not mandatory.

I know a class 10th student who got SCJP with 100%,so nothing is impossible.

I have also completed SCJP and don't have any java real experience.

Then also trying to give this exam.

Your Quesion's of answer

1. What is best way to prepare for this exam?

The best way first read Andrew Monkhouse second edition book. Download Assignment and read JavaRanch all posts which is really helpful.

2. How long one should prepare?

Its depend on you, your consistancy and your effort.

3. I have no work experience in Java. Am I targeting the right certification.

This is right certification for getting experience.

Best Luck!!!

Thanks

Hi Sandeep & Vaishali

Thanks a lot for suggestions. It was very kind of you. I decided to go for it and I started reading Andrew Monkhouse second edition book. I am planning to download the assignment ASAP and planning to submit it in December. I hope I will clear it.

Thanks and Regards
Padma
