Hi,
i'm working on B&S and im a bit confused about the server requirements of my assignment:

In either case [rmi or socket], the program must allow
the user to specify the location of the database, and it must also accept
an indication that a local database is to be used, in which case, the networking
must be bypassed entirely.

My program should be start as following:
java -jar runme.jar server/alone or leave blank for network client.

So i use
1) (vm 1) network client <-> rmi <-> database server (vm 2)
or
2) (only vm 1) gui <-> database server

i'm confused about "and it must also accept
an indication that a local database is to be used".
What does it means?
Is this a third approach like:
(vm 1) gui <-> database server(vm2)
or is it only another description for approach 2) and describes the non-network mode?

what me desrange is, that this sentence is in the server section under the headline "network approach" for rmi.

thanks for help
Markus
