I am doing B&S find criteria.

DO you think I should be only searching by ContractorID(I mean no other search criteria is required ) because that is the only thing a customer 'll know.

Also I donot think we would need record Numbers for the this perticular function.

Please suggest!

Through other posts I read that the search criteria should not be by customer ID

My qestion now are

1)is that should we be searching then with any other feild like name, location, specialities etc

2) If the customer ID is supposed to be unique, nothing is said about that

3)right now my customer ID is blank for the available records. Am I supposed to autogenerate and fill the current IDS

Please help as I am stuck

thanks in advance

Hello,

I'm also on B&S
my assignment says:

- a bit strange requirement,.. I don't believe any user would like to enter whole name of company like: "Moore Power Tool Ya", otherwise he won't find anything :-)

1) depends on you, but read carefully your assignment, I bet you'll find the same sentence as I posted.

2) can one customer book mutltiple contractors? I believe he can, so customer IDs ("owner") don't have to be unique for each record.

3) if you would generate IDs for your records, then they will be no longer available

4) if customer would perform search by customer ID ("owner" field), he will find all records, that are currently booked by that customer ID

sorry but am I missing something?
the requirements asks us to search using name and/or location, so why do you want to worry about searchign by the owner?

GUI wise all that is required is name and location as far as my reading of the spec goes you could search for other things but there is no requirement to do so. I was torn between allowing a lot more things in the GUI simply because it made testing the back end easier but I'm not convinced that your just opening yourself up to loosing some marks if the extra functionality isn't perfect. At one point I debated adding an basic and advanced GUI modes one that would just do the basics and another that would have all the bells and whistles.

The interface / api allows other searches so I guess our testbeds must test this functionality and it must work BUT again it does not have to be available from the GUI.

If I'm wrong please correct me as I don't want to fail ;-)

My B&S is ver. 2.2.2, and my GUI requires me to search " the data for all data or for records where the name and/or location fields exactly match values specifed by the user."

My specs do not specify owner ID as a search criteria. However, I do have the DBAccess interface method findByCriteria that needs me to retrieve all records that begins with the criteria given, i.e. "Fred" matches "Fred" and "Freddy".

I have created the findByCriteria search, but need to work on the GUI search still.

Hope that helps some.

Thanks,

Thanks so much for all your support

Here is the conclusion from other posts, the search criteria required:
Just the name
Just the location
Both name and location
