hi everyone.. can anyone please suggest any good books for SCJD for Java 5.0
I have heard about Andrews book can you guys tell me a about it and wether it is a book for someone who is new to topics like RMI and NIO

Yes, it is very good book for newbies in SCJD world. Btw, you can't use NIO.
You'll find examples for RMI and sockets in this book, also check apress.com site, where source codes for demo application are freely available.
