Guys

I have seen that this forum is quite slow in getting the proper help.
While I was doing SCJP, those guys are very helpful but that's not the case here.

sorry if anybody got offended

I noticed that, too. I think many of the frequent posters passed the exam. Good for them, and bad for us

But don't you think so that the organizers should do somethig to make this forum active.

Again no offence

I'm afraid that is not their purpose. This forum is for SCJD hopefuls to share experience with each other. Unfortunately, it seems to be a dry period for people trying to get the cert. I think we get lucky sometimes, and someone who currently holds the cert looks in on the forum (Andrew Monkhouse, for example), but I'm sure they have jobs, which I'm sure take priority over this forum. I hope the forum gets more support soon, too. You did not offend.

If you have a basic Java question to ask, you might consider asking it in the Java in General forums; for example, your question about casting an ArrayList to a long[] is a (perhaps) intermediate Java question, and doesn't have anything really to do with SCJD. If you restrict your questions in this forum to those specifically related to the SCJD exam and its requirements, you'll improve the signal-to-noise ratio, and also be more likely to get those intro Java questions answered.

Hey, since it's a dry period, let me know your opinions on the SCJD. I'm trying to decide whether to get my SCJD or SCWCD next. I recently got my SCJP earlier this year.

Hi ranchers,

I think if we post short questions in this forum we get an answer more quickly (for example this post is short!), also watch out if there are anothers posts related to the question we will post (I try to put in practice "Don't try to reinvent the wheel"). I got a lot of help in this forum, i first search for another posts related and if i have a question i post it.

I hope it helps you.

and now that I re-think about it... the same assignments have been around for so long...

it's almost not possible to ask new questions.. pretty much all answers are "searchable" on the forum.

Thanks Ernest Friedman-Hill for your reply.
Some of the questions are basic but while you are programming sometimes you are stuck in a very basic step and nothing wrong in asking. But other questions which are SCJD questions I asked and to which I could not get appropriate answer.
Also may be many people are asking the same thing but there are different angles everyone is looking at and at the same time different people respond it differently so it even clarifies more.
so someway we all should encourage those answer more and more questions to keep the forum alive.

yes forum is dry (somewhat) when I was preparing but you have to post something meaningful for others to reply.

Search will point you towards old threads with tons of information regarding SCJD. I visit this forum sometime even I pass..

Cheers
