Hi guys!!! I'm waiting for andrew's SCJD book. while waiting, I want to ask you some questions those are important to me.

Does the exam is scary? I'm so scared but I have to take the exam. I want to proof myself that I'm compentent in developing Java SE application.

If I do all the things in Andrew's SCJD book, is it guaranteed that I can do the project assignment easily?

Does Andrew's SCJD book covered all I need to know to passed the exam?

Thanks for your answer. Sorry if I'm asking too many questions. All Your answers are pleasantly accepted.

No way - once you have taken the exam you will wonder why you ever worried about it!

The exam only exists in order to verify that you developed the assignment you submitted. The one example of exam questions this forum allows is "did you use RMI or Sockets for your assignment?" - obviously if you answer that you used RMI, and the submitted assignment uses sockets then the assessor will believe that this is not your assignment.

It is worthwhile noting that you cannot fail the exam, and there is no option to retake the exam (this is the same with the SCEA part III exam, however these are the only 2 Sun exams I know of that you cant fail). You can still fail the assignment, but if you do so then you only need to resubmit the assignment - you do not need to retake the exam.

I personally think that the book prepares you well for the assignment (but of course I would think that, wouldn't I ). I'll leave it to others to give their thoughts as they may be more unbiased.

As mentioned earlier, the exam only exists to verify who wrote the assignment.

I mean, the project assignment. Does the project assignment scary?
What did you do when you do the project assignment?

Thanks

hi Jeffry,

No.

1. I read the instructions about 10 times.
2. I read Andrew's book and ran the code.
3. I implemented the required interface, and wrote testcode for it.
4. I designed and wrote a simple GUI
5. I connected the GUI with the backend

I think Andrew's book is very useful for the assignment, maybe you need some more books as well (on Swing, RMI, locking).. This depends on your previous experience.
