Hello, everyone..I have 2 questions

1] I intend to do SCJD latest by May 2009. Which version should I use? Will Java 5 be good enough for me??

2] If I use a newer version, am I forced to use its features as well? For example if I use

// Java 1.4 style of iterating over a collection

instead of

// Java 5 style of iterating over a collection

, will I be fine??
What I am trying to know is, that can I use the old language features, with which I am comfortable or is it mandatory for me to use the new features?

Thanks

Java 2 SE with SDK 1.4 is approaching EOL, no time soon but is approaching.

Java SE 6 update 6 is the latest platform which has few 'major' feature changes(additions) from Java 2 SE 5.0.

You do *not* need to take advantage of the latest platform features (i.e. enhanced-for-loop, generics, etc.). However, you should learn them and use them where possible, to bring your skills up to date.

I recommend you use Java SE 6, taking advantage of the features added since Java 2 SE 5.0.
