Asking folks who have passed out SCJD!!

Is ii legal to share the SCJD assignment downloaded from sun after passing out the exam? If yes, just asking if anyone who has it could share it with me?

I have completed studying the Andrew Monkhouse's book but want to take up a mock assignment exactly similar to Sun's before downloading a new one.

Let me know if it's possible.

Hi,

I'm pretty sure it is not allowed to share it. Also, I would think you would be wasting a lot of time doing the assignment once for practice and then once for real.

If you read Monk's book, you should have a pretty good idea what the assignment is about (Threads, RMI/Socket, SWING..)

I suggest you get the real assignment and start working on it! You'll have questions, that why javaranch is here

The certification needs you to understand how to use threads, network and SWING. Beyond the technology, the certification requires that you make design choices. That's it.

I believe you cannot "really" practice making these choices in a fake assignment, the real thing will be much better.

Regards,
Alex

Hi

No, it is not legal to share assignment instructions, and it is certainly not legal to share solution details or exam questions.

As with all the certification exams, candidates must agree to a non-disclosure agreement before getting the assignment. So if someone were to pass on their assignment, they risk having their certification revoked, and being banned taking any further certification exams (yes, it does happen).

I agree with Alex that you would be wasting your time working through the assignment given to somebody else. I would go further though - I believe that this could result in failure. Imagine the following scenario:
  • someone gives you the instructions for URLyBird 2.3.2
  • you complete that assignment for practice
  • you register for the real assignment
  • you get assigned URLyBird 2.3.3

  • Now you have a real problem: those assignments are so close that you will re-use your solution for 2.3.2 and miss some incredibly minor difference in the assignments, causing you to fail. Even if you had deleted the code you had developed for your practice, there is still a risk that your mind will automatically re-use the solution you had previously devised.

    Regards, Andrew

    Thanks Alex and Andrew,

I agree that attempting another mock exam will be a waste of time. Also, as per the scenario mentioned by Andrew, it can lead to failure also, if I miss minor details in another version of the same assignment.

I will directly go for real exam download.
