I don't know, but personally, I'd want Sun's certification above any one else's. IBM's would be a close second... if they had one.

IBM does have a certification track, IBM certified Java developer I think. Consisting of three papers, SCJP being one of them. Of the other two,one is about Visual Age for Java and tthe other one is about OOD.
You might find the details at the IBM site.

Chandu,
Initially, I was not sure about the exam, but now after surfing the web for a couple of minutes, I found the URL, to start looking for the info on IBM cert, it is, http://java.sun.com/cert-initiative/companies.html
Go to the IBM link from there, which is: http://www.software.ibm.com/ad/certify
This is actually a three stage certification, SCJP being the first step.
Hope this info helps.

Yeah shree, u r right.
The consortium of IBM, Novell, Oracle, Netscape, Sun value SCJP. Apart from this individual companies have tracks which have certification exams built around their propreitary tech & products like IBM Websphere, Visual Age for Java, etc. And some of the exams are recognised by other vendors ( papers like OOAD with UML etc).

Sidhu,
Did you try out at the sites I mentioned?
By the way, are you a SCJP already?
If you are digging into any more details about IBM cert track, could you keep me informed? I need details like, credibility, cost and any online tutorial for the exam(s).
Thanks.

IBM is a major participant in the Java Certification Intiative for Enterprise Development. This initiative has three skill levels - the SCJP being skill level 1. The other two skill levels comprise of the Certified Java Solution Developer, and Certified Java Enterprise Developer.
There are two exams you must pass in Skill level 2, and two exams in Skill level 3. It's the IBM OOAD exam that is part of the Skill level 2 exam set. They also offer a VisualAge for Java exam to round out skill level 2 (although you could take other vendors' IDE offerings instead).
