This is from one of the mock test.
What can cause a thread to stop executing?
1) The program exits via a call to System.exit(0);
2) Another thread is given a higher priority
3) A call to the thread's stop method.
4) A call to the halt method of the Thread class
The answer is 1, 2 & 3.
I would like to know whether Ans 3 can be considered as a valid answer as the stop() has been deprecated in jdk1.2.
Thanks.

Well, it's a valid answer certainly, though I might consider the question a bit unfair. Remember though, it's still legal to use deprecated methods, though it's usually unwise. And usually Sun would rather we forgot they existed. Anyone want to comment on whether any deprecated methods actually appear on the exam?

As far as the review clas I have taken.
As far as the material I have reviewed on the web.
The depreciated thread method(s) should NOT be on the
Java 2 Programmers exam.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
I have seen over the past two months.
Depreciated methods in practice exams.
Note: Take practice exams with a grain of salt.
Not all of the answers are correct!
Enjoy the day, Monty
