I have started java about 6 months back starting my basics with Java in 21 days. I have gone thro a number of other books before considering the SCJP2. I followed R&H book for certification. It is a good book. I also followed the tutorial at Marcus green site. I think it is a good tutorial. The notes of Dylan Walsh & Heather MacKenzie were very useful for last minute preparation. I attempted most of the Mock tests available at Javaranch site & its links. I think the exam 2 at Marcus Green is very good and is quite close to the standard of the actual exam. I found most of the mock tests to be more tough as compared to the actual exam (My personal opinion). I also found the Rules round up/ Javaranch to be a good test to start with. Kai notes was good too. The mock test at the link provided in the thread titled "Preparation Tips" by Java Joe is quite tough. I feel if one can get bout 75-80% consistently in most of the mocks then you can comfortably bet on the actual exam.
I prepared for about two months for the exam inspite of my full time software consulting job. I am also trying out Java on the AS/400 & VisualAge for Java at Work.
Hope the above info useful. I also thank Jim, Tony, Maha Anna(Big Brother), & others who were very helpful and always provided with immediate replies in the forum.
Thanks.
