Hello everybody,
Today I passed scjp with a score of 95%. The exam is easy when compared to other mock exams. It closely resembles Marcus green exams and the sample questions from the R&H book, "The complete Java2 certification study guide".
Be thorough with basic fundementals rather than memorising the API's.
I have been visiting this site often. I find this site very useful in preparing for the exam. Go through all the topics using the search facility available in this forum.
I don't have previous experience in java programming. Just studied "Thinking in Java" by Bruce Eckel , Java2 certification study guide, did all the mock exams online, regularly visited this site and that's all.

congrats nikita, great score!
from what i have seen from some other posts on breakup of questions by topic, seems that there are usually 15-20 questions on API's and 40-45 on language fundamentals.
cud u give us some idea on the rough breakup by topics?
cheers,
vivek

Nikita,
Thats a very good score Congratulations!
You said you had practiced most of the mocks. How do you compare Khalid's mock to the real exam. Though his mock seemed easy I got a very poor score. It is very discouraging. Do you think studying RHE and taking some mocks is enough(for a good score)?

Hi,
Thanks to everybody.
I think I got only few questions which test our API knowledge
regarding the AWT components and listeners.
Just be thorough with the basic fundementals. Go through each and every objectives listed in the sun site and make sure you are comfortable every thing.
Go through all the constructors for classes in java.io package(particularly for classes listed in the objectives!!)
Last but not the least, take Marcus green mock exams and sample test engine from R&H.They resemble the real exam
Khalid is somewhat tougher than the real exam. But going thru that will make u clear with the concepts.
Rules roundup will be an added advantage
refer http://www.geocities.com/chitrasridhar
for the links of various mock exams and other java resources.

hi everybody,
Thanks a lot!!!
I am looking for a job as a junior/midlevel java programmer (preferebly around Detroit area). Anyone is interested in offering me a job?
I am ready to work ASAP. I am so frustated with people asking for experience even for entry level positions, even though I have Master's degree in ComputerScience and have internship experience in developing database applications(Oracle, visual Foxpro etc).
Reply to this post if anyone is interested and we will communicate further.
thanks
niki

I also took the khalid exam and failed it with a 64. I have been doing like 20 points higher on other exams. Does anyone know where the answers are for that exam? After I took it, it wouldn't even show which questions I missed. Was I doing something wrong?

Hi Niki
CONGRATULATIONS. That's damn good score.
I just wanted to wish you good luck, but then I came across your last post.
I'm currently working as a consultant in NYC.
My employer is looking for Java progrmmers (preferably SCJP, even without experience) to train in one of the Appllication servers and place them on projects.
The initial training will be in NYC but I believe they should be able to place you in Detroit area.
If interested, email me at harry_chawla@hotmail.com
Congratulations and all the best.
