I've been reading posts at JavaRanch for the past month or so. Thank you for such a great site. This site really helped me pass the exam.
I was a COBOL programmer for about 1 1/2 years - that was my only programming experience. Through books and different websites, I taught myself enough to pass this
test. I started studying about 3 months ago.
I read Exam Cram, RHE, the message board at this website, and read the tutorial at Marcus Green's website.
I can't stress enough the importance of MOCK EXAMS!!! I took around 10 including RHE, Marcus Green's 1-3, Applied Reasoning, Jxam, Boone's, Exam Cram, Rules Roundup and IBM. I did horribly on the first few I took (around 40% - 50%)... My scores did get better, I just took these in the past couple of days - Jxam (70%), Boone's (76%), and Green's Exam 3 (70%). I would have NEVER passed if I hadn't taken so many mock exams. Taking the mocks help you pick up on points you might have missed from reading. Mark which ones you miss and research the topic - this will also help.
I was extremely nervous about taking the exam and not passing but I was under a lot of stress to take the exam. I would have liked to been more prepared but you don't always get what you want. Thanks again to everyone who participates in this forum and to the creators of JavaRanch! I couldn't have passed without you!
