Hi

First let me thank Javaranch for maintaining such a wonderful site to help java learner like me.
Javaranch helped me a lot in passing SCJP with a descent score. I am basically working in datawarehousing projects and do not have c++, Java background. I enjoyed learning, it reminded me good old days of Engg exams.I am happy with my score. I studied seriously for the exam during last 2 months (part time)
I had everything in my test.
5 type in questions, very easy.
1 Media tracker.
2 sockets.
1 famous String-Append - thanks to Javaranch's old thread, I was prepared for it!!
1 Daemon threads, suspending of thread??.
Lots of overloading and overriding and class design strategy, encapsulation (thanks to Marcus tutorial).
I know many of new SCJP aspirants get worried about sockets and media tracker but actual questions were related to basic IO and blocking of threads and very well within the scope of objectives. Do not worry too much about them try to search old threads on Javaranch you will get required info as far as SCJP is concerned.
I used RHE and Ivor horton's beginning Java 2 for my initial study. Big thanks to Barnes & Nobel for giving me opportunity to go thru books by Khalid, Exam Cram. What helped me most in gaining confidence was JQ Plus mock exams, those were really tough ones. I never passed in any of its 7 exam (60-67%) in my first attempt. I think the product is really good if you have atleast 2-3 weeks(I was bit late in using JQ+)in your hand before your final exam and you want some good score. It prepares you for the worst possible questions in real SCJP.
I used Mahaanna's home page extensively I tried most of the mock exams mentioned in his home page(score ranging 80 to 93%). Maha has good suggestions for SCJP, I would say blindly follow them and you will make it. Big thanks to Mahaanna , Ajith, Jim, Marcus and lot more other for helping people like me.
Good luck to those who are taking exam in near future, it is not that difficult if you have worked hard on it.

Thanks Ajith, Aruna,Vidya, Harry.
Harry , believe me if you know basic IO from RHE then also you should be able to answer questions related to Sockets and MediaTracker. These are big words to test your Knowledge about basic IO and blocking of thread. Please do search on old threads. Some where Ajith-Toney have given enough hints to answer these questions correctly. Please make sure you know about ASCII and default encoding. My 2 cents.
Good luck
Dinesh
