Hi All,
I have cleared my SCJP yesterday with 81% score. I have a Software background and have been programming since 6 years, but my knowledge of Java is minimal.
I have taken the exam to put in my resume that i too know Java. I mainly concentrated on RHE ( 2 thorough readings.) and did some mock tests listed in this site. Also the real test is little bit easier than the mock tests. I used to get between 60-70% in my mock tests. My total preparation time was 9 days with 6-8 hrs per week.
Got the Media Tracker, Sockets and append method questions, but thanks to JAva ranch i was easily able to answer those.
Good Luck to you all and Thanks to Javaranch.

Hi Hemanth,
Congratulations on the achievement and then can u tell me as to how i can clear the exam in one months time.. ( i mean to say now only concentrating on certification guide and mock tests).I am into programming for the past two years. well my problem being with awt, threads and then the dreaded problem of selecting the wrong no of correct answers .. eg. if two are correct i end up selecting either one or three.. thereby losing the question. any idea abt that. u can mail to me at venuga@rediffmail.com
Thanks in advance
Regards
Venu

Way to go, Hemanth!
Venu,
Have you taken Sun's 10 question mock exam? Their questions that have multiple correct answers specify how many answers you should choose. Makes for more of an advantage.

Hemanth,
Congratulations on your success.I am also planning to appear for SCJP before end of this month. I was really impressed when i saw your posting of clearing the exam in 9 days. I haven't started my preparation and got a real inspiration by looking at your posting. Can you please help me out for planning out the schedule for the various topics involved in the certification over a period of 9 days devoting 8 hrs/week. I have an programming experience of 8 years and also minimal Java knowledge. Just curious what center did you appear for the exam.
Congrats once again.
Thanks,
Regards,
Prashant.
