Hi Guys,
I gave the exam today as scheduled and cleared with 97% It was really surprising that I did not get the new exam. I asked the co-ordinators at the center here in Mumbai whether I would be appearing for the new exam but they told me that they had already downloaded the paper two days ago. so I had to appear for the old one. But I guess all happens for the best
The exam was easy, I guess I could say that, I lost on 2 questions one on operators and the other on Declarations an Access Ctrl. It really feels great to have passed with good marks. Generally people have a notion that to learn Java u should have C, C++ knowledge. But it is not true, it's just that it would be a little easier for the C, C++ guys.
For all u aspiring SCJP's, I don't know much about the new exam but if u know your stuff well, I guess u shouldn't have a problem. I started with Java in May took up Patrick Naughton "Complete Referencde" understood the concepts.
Another book i read was from certification point of view is Khalid's book. It is the best. He has explained each and every concept extremely well. Read the book try out the code given, do some R&D. then comes all the mock exams listed at Maha's site.
Last but not the least do not forget Javaranch, participate in the disussions. It really helps. I have checked out all the discussions listed at Maha's site as well as the mocks. Thanx to everybody at javaranch including all the moderators and the participants, Wthout u guys it wouldn't have been the same. I guess I'll take some time off get back to work on Monday.
All the best
Amit

Amit, even I feel so excited you got 97% i can assume your excitement. Thats a lovely score. I am appaearing in next week or two. I also like Khalid's book. He has taken lot of pains in expliaing almost everything and tabulising all the stuff. and his tests are tough. good for us.
Congratulation to you again and wish you all the very best for your journey to words e-everything.
