Hi everybody,
I am one of the eager ones to go in for the Java Certification and just when I wanted to go and do it, I came to know that there have been a lot of changes. I really would appreciate if you all could advise me on the areas of concern:
1. What is the change in the certification passing percentage.
2. Is there any change in the course objectives
3. What is this thing about the number of correct choices being shown on the multiple questions?
4. Is the work which we have all done on the mocks go waste?
5. Are all questions new or do you think that they are similar to the questions in the mock exams.
6. Is the code tough in the questions?
7. Has the difficulty level increased?
8. Any other issues you might help us out on.
9. Any places which is going to come out with the latest mocks soon.. I hope they do it fast. I will really pray for this.
Really will appreciate all your comments and I believe a lot of people will too.
Regards,
Amit

First you should check this out... http://suned.sun.com/USA/certification/java_certification_news.html
Your preperation with other mock exams will definitely not go waste as objectives have not changed and also the concepts remain same!
We have taken the test and we are in the process of revising our question bank. We'll take out the revised version of JQPlus in a few days.

So will you include the original questions that you got in the test in your software?

Hi Amit!
Ill try to answer your questions, I hope it will help to reduce level of stress with the new exam.
1. What is the change in the certification passing percentage.
If I understood your question right, passing percentage was reduced from 71% to 61%
2. Is there any change in the course objectives
No
3. What is this thing about the number of correct choices being shown on the multiple questions?
Now questions look like choose two correct answers, but number of options was increased, now you will have 5 or 6 options.
4. Is the work which we have all done on the mocks go waste?
No, no, no! But now 1) you should pay special attention to questions with code examples 2) maybe change you test-taking strategy. With old exam there was enough time for revision of your answers, now you may have no time for revision, so you should concentrate on each question and do your best. When you take mocks, you may want to use this strategy to become comfortable with it.
5. Are all questions new or do you think that they are similar to the questions in the mock exams.
Not all questions are new, my estimate is about 10% questions are new, rest of them are still close to the mock exams, and I think I got one question literally from one of old mocks.
6. Is the code tough in the questions?
Normally not, but I got one (only one!) question with 30 lines of code. But code was pretty clear, I did not have to analize each line to understand what it does.
7. Has the difficulty level increased?
I personally do not feel that the difficulty level has been increased.
Good luck!

No. We can't give the EXACT questions in our tool. That's not legal. But we change them *minimally* and we also add similar questions on the same concept.
