RHE stands for the book titled,
"The complete JAVA 2 Certificatioin Study Guide"
written by,
Simon Roberts, Phillip Heller and Michael Ernest.
By the way its a really good book to prepare for SCJP.

Dhrams -- What are you talking about??
[Ajith removed abusive language here ]
GVS -- RHE stands for Roberts, Heller, and Ernest -- the authors of one of the better Java Cert review books (Java 2 Certification Study Guide).
Good luck on your exam,

Before you buy this book, make sure you get the second edition that comes out on September, 2000.

Guys...guys...no abusive language please!! Moderators will not tolerate any rude behaviour and such actions will result in your account being disabled.
JavaRanch enjoys the reputation of being one of the finest places for Java discussion. We strive hard to maintain the quality and your cooperation is greatly appreciated. I really hate to do the 'policing' here and dilute the technical discussions. After all we are all professionals and we don't need to be patrolled ( ) This is not a place to fight.
Let me remind you folks, PROPER NAMES ARE NOW REQUIRED!! Read this post for more details. It takes less than a minute to register. Please do so if you haven't already !!!

Relax.
All I wanted to know was what RHE stands for, and I was expecting a response like the ones posted by Gautam/Rahul. There were infinite references to RHE, but no one explained what it is!
I am not going to react to Mr (or Ms?) Dharms_malik's note, for obvious reasons.
As for using real names, please make it a point to read the rules at (http://www.javaranch.com/ubb/Forum10/HTML/000180.html).
The rules clearly say that it is OK TO USE an alias in the first few posts till one gets comfortable with this site. Those are my real initials (if RHE works, why not GVS?!).
Is there anything new in the Sept 2000 release of RHE?
Thanks,
GVS

Well if you think your question is a simple one why not check out the Programmers Cert FAQ before you ask it ... or even the < href="http://www.javaranch.com/ubb/faq.html">main faq

As the grand poobah of JavaRanch, I've been asked to come and comment on this.
As much as I'm a big fan of racy language, I know that many folks aren't, so I think it's probably in all of our best interests to avoid it.
Names: Yes, you may use an alias, but it has to be something that resembles a real name (and not a goofy name or a celebrity name - I killed Wiggum PI today). Also, underscores and commas are not allowed in names either.
The big thing is that since the name thing got to be such a problem, for the next few weeks we're really cracking down.

Paul,
what is it you (or Javaranch is) gaining by cracking down,
rules make sense, and I am sure you are playing a great role there, but in a forum ( and which I have come to like so much) which focuses on knowledge and
team-work, its strange that such a trivial issue is being focussed to "Crack Down", Dharam can get away with whatever
he says bcos he gave his name, GVS has to give an explanantion
for his lack of full name, (the name that you see on my id could be a fabricated one, GVS could be more genuine) and the topic deviates from RHE to cracking down,
dictatorship never really helps !!! it only hurts.

I must apologize for having used other people names, I didn't mean to take any side, I hope (and wish) moderators could edit it and remove the names or the line.
I am done with this and am back to doing the thing that
matters most here, Learn Java!!!
- thanks

This is a Java discussion forum and to be more precise, remember that this is a forum in JavaRanch Saloon Certification area of SCJP. not even general Java. There are VARIOUS other forums for ALL sorts of JAVA discussion. This one is related to SCJP exam.
Please remove this topic from list once and for all. What is this going on? The mistake was question "Dumbest referred to RHE". It was not asked properly by GVS.
Remember this topic has a fire in the main list and all the new visitors visit this topic and what do they think of this genuinely technical site? Is this what we want to show to the world? Many will not register looking at this first of its kind conversion of this topic.
There has been enough of debate and I request the moderators to remove this topic once and for all.
