The new passing score is TEN POINTS lower than before! I guess that translates to diluting - devaluating the Certification. We now have the "Before and After" scores, where the "old" high scores are more valuable than the present ones...?
What is it? Does Sun want everybody and their brother to be certified now? Why not just SELL the Certificate over the Internet for $150?
Me, cynical? You Bet!

As already stated, the pass mark is 61% (was 71%).
I think the lowering of the mark is mainly to do with the shortening of the exam time. 90 minutes, instead of 120 minutes.
The questions do not appear to be any harder. (I had failed the old and passed the new).

The new exam has more practical questions based on code, which can be deceptive, if you are not very familiar with the Java language. This has made the exam more difficult than the old exam. Hence to maintain the level of difficulty the passing score has been brought down to 61%.
