hi guys
I didn't have much time to report on my experiences with the
exam itself. I will take this time to share my experience with
the exam.
I can't exactly remember the breakdown of all exams but here is
some tips.
1. answer the questions u know for sure first and come back to
the tricky ones later.
2. don't waste more than 1 minute on one question. if you can't figure out the answer after 1 minute then move on.
3. with respect to I/O classes, make sure you know that InputStream/OutputStream are abstract and thus can't be newed.
4. All Readers/Writer classes (i.e those classes which ends with
either Reader/Writer) are character oriented classes and thus the only way to assign such byte oriented streams such as FileInputStream/FileOutputStream to character oriented streams is through the InputStreamReader/InputStreamWriter classes.
5. Take a look into how Garbage collection works especially
where all references to an Object in an Array have been lost.
6. Collections API, you simply need to know which interfaces/classes store objects that are unique. which ones
for ordered objects, which ones for key/value pairs.
7. String is immutable, so if I create String s1="Desmond";
what ever I do to s1, I will still get "Desmond" unless I null the reference.
8. you can't do + operations to StringBufferes!!
I don't have much time to continue, but I will keep contributing to the forum. good luck those who are taking the exam.
Cheers
Tinyiko

I child proofed my house but they still get in. Distract them with this tiny ad:
