phew....I'm so glad that finally I got it! I hope now it'll help me increase my earning potential
Observations:
1. There were lot of code based questions but I can't say whether they were more than the previous exam version because I did not take the old exam.
2. Threads were damn crazy. I even got a question that had to do something with deadlocks!!!
3. Lot of questions from File class.
4. A few questions very confusing, one was something like: what stream would you use to decode chars from input?? Now what does it mean??? Interestingly, JQPlus had discussed a similar question but I don't know whether I got it correct or not as I got 1 wrong in that section.
5. Lot of questions on operators...what are the results of applying ~ | ^ etc on different numbers
Rest all were ok...one very long question. I didn't even attempt to solve it. Just made a wild guess in the last minute. I thought there was no point in spending time on just one question.
Many thanks to JavaRanch and you all guys, especially Paul of JQPlus. Paul, looks like your advice of writing code paid off! Hey, I just want to say thanks for answering all my questions patiently. Your support was excellent and you have developed a very good product. I have a suggestion for you though...there is a good scope for improvement in grammar and typos.
best of luck guys,
Derek.

Congrats Derek! That's a great score. All the best for the boost in your career 'cos of this.
I have a few questions to ask you.
1.What's JQ' Plus. is there link to it from Javaranch.
2. which practice questions helped you in preparing for I/O &
Threads?
3. What's the answer for your question which stream to use if
you have to read 'char'? Maybe what they mean is any kind of
class which is a subclass of Readers. Or did they mean which
method, I mean readUTF etc.
I am planning to take the exam next week.
Thanks
Sudha

Congratulations, Derek and thanks for the feedback. All the questions are written by Indians and I agree that there are grammatical mistakes and typos. We have brought another person on our team to fix those things. ( He's an American though and I'm sure the brits will still find such mistakes ) With our customers' appreciation and feedback we'll make it a better product.
-Paul.
