hey all,
i have just joined this group. i intend to give my exam by 15th dec 2000. I am studying from khalid moughul and rhe. will try marcus greens mock exam as well.
One question here:
I have studied first three chapters from rhe (lang fundamentals, operators and assignments, modifiers), and first four from khalid moughuls book. Khalid's excercise questions seem to be a bit different from that of rhe. They seem to be more tricky (i think i used the correct word) than the straight forward questions given in rhe. My question is, that if I have to follow just one book out of the two (keeping in mind the time frame of 15th dec 2000), which one should it be:
rhe or Khalid moughul's
bye,

I didn't read Khalid, but I did read RHE, so I may not be the best to answer this. But with that said, RHE is written by somebody who helped write the actual exam, and from what people have said about the exam, the exam's questions are pretty straight forward and they don't give misleading or ambiguious questions. But like I said, I never read Khalid.

Welcome to JavaRanch. You sure have started off with the right foot!!
I have always said this - no one book is sufficient. There is no single certification book that is exhaustive. The best recipe( I followed ) is to read at least two books. I read all the three - Khalid, RHE and Exam Cram. Don't buy them, rather spend a weekend or two at a nearby bookstore( if you are in USA ). If you can't do that, simply do ALL the mock exams that are out there.

well,
I am in New Delhi, INDIA, and so, I had to buy both the books (Khalid & RHE). I hardly find anybody doing or done sun cert for java, otherwise I would have borrowed the book from him. Anyway, I think after reading your suggestions, I will go through both the books.
Thanks once again.
Bye,
