I am looking for software. At the moment, I need to implement some type of instant messaging system (no bells and whistles). I don't want to reinvent the wheel. I'd like to post somewhere saying, "does anyone know of some software, open source or commercial, which I can get." Where should such a post go?

Um, right, that's what I'm trying to figure out, which JavaRanch forum is appropriate for this?

maybe in the Advanced forum?
Have you checked out SourceForge? There's a bunch of Chat projects -- I filtered on Java and English and a bunch came up:

General Computing might be a good fit, if you're not specifically looking for something Java-based.

Yeah, I know about the open source places, but I want to cover commercial, too.
