Hi Noel!
Apart from other exam simulators which are available online and as free shareware, I would strongly recommend u to go for JQ+ as it is really worth buying! Also the test is based on the revised(latest) version of the SCJP Exam ( You will definitely get the feel of the real exam).

As far as JQPLUS is concerned it is available as a free shareware.
This is just my personal opinion! Feedback invited!
Thanks
Meenakshi :-)

Meenakshi,
You may want to take a look at this discussion on Topic:JQ+ / JXam Ver 2.0 / Real Exam http://www.javaranch.com/ubb/Forum44/HTML/000327.html
Please note Angela Ponyton's message of Feb 01.

Rahul/Suman,
JQPlus is a copyrighted software. The authors put a ton of work into it, so support them and pay for it!!! It's only $18.00! If you wrote this software, would you appreciate people passing around copies rather than buying from you?
See Paul's previous note.

Dear .....
The cost of the software is meager, it is not even equivalent to a bill of 3 Pizza's from Pizza Hut. The person who wrote the software, did such a wonderful job, why make him suffer by availing an illegal copy of the software. Rs. 450 or US$ 18 will be nothing once you start earning after clearing your SCJP. Py him man..
Bye,

JCertify 4.0 is the best that I'v seen. They have been
offering a simulator since 1998. Their most recent version
is updated for the changes made October 4, 2000.
It bundles and integrates content from Bruce Eckel,
Professor Richard Baldwin ( $15 value ), Marcus Green,
and Roedy Green. Each question you view will take you
to just the right spot within Eckel, Balwin, and Green
to read up on that particular objective.

malathi,
Why do you go by an alias? Today at 5:17 A.M. a request for the archive was issued by a suman bingi who ironically has the same email address as you(suman_malathi@yahoo.com). Is this a coincidence? I think not. If somebody wants to break the law and send you a copy then maybe they will. But we don't need several requests from different aliases. JQPlus clearly falls within your financial constraints for a exam simulator. The author/s have worked hard in order to help other people and they offer their software for a modest price. If you were in the U.S., you could afford almost 3 copies. If you were in India you could afford almost twice that as I understand from the generous discount provided by the author/s.

Hi sean,
I dont see any point in your argument, why do you think it as an alias, I and my brother suman are both into this scjp prep.
we share the same system, probably I overlooked his message as you can see we share the same mailid[suman_malathi@yahoo.com] for our studies.
Why do you think it as an alias does javaranch server breakout bcoz of my post, its a genuine post, you please concentrate on helping others like me to reach our destiny[scjp] not to make a mess of silly things such as the above.
This is a public forum gentleman
Dont make a mess by diverting us, please see to that you dont create a picture that is not good for this board as there is no abuse or any voilation of public forum rules thru my post!!
Hope you got it!!

My point wasn't that the fact if you're using an alias, but instead that you are asking people to violate copyright laws and send you something that other people have paid for. If in fact you have a brother as you say, then both of you are asking people to break the law.

I purchased both JQPlus and JCertify:
JCertify: $70.00
JQPlus: $18.00
The benefits to JCertify is that the exam interface is supposedly closer to what the real exam is. The benefits of JQ+ is that the questions closely resemble what is on the exam and it has a money back guarantee. I highly recommend JQ+.
Also, since my background is in Software Quality Assurance, I would have to say that JCertify appears to have more bugs that JQ+.

Someone sent me an email earlier today (from justyou@rediffmail.com) asking that I email them my commercial copies of JQPlus and JCertify.
OBVIOUSLY I AM NOT GOING TO DO THAT.
If commercial software was freely distributed without paying for it, there would NOT be a need for Sun Certified Java Programmers in the first place!!

Tom,
I went down the same road you did and bought both JCertify and JQ+. I like the questions in JQ+ much better. I believe JCertify only has 1/2 the number of questions. Furthermore, they don't have a pre-set number of test where the questions are not repetitive. After running JCertify a couple of times, the questions got to be very repetitive.
As I said in an earlier post, the GUI in JCertify is much prettier. In the end, it's content that is important.
One last thing, no one has made the same request to me since I'm a Bartender. At least they're smart enough not to ask.
Just my POV,
-Peter

hi all,
its agood thing that we should protect the copyrights of those who do such a hard work and bring useful software. Its also bad on those part who ask for the duplicate copies. So I will get my own copies.

Hi mohit,
welcome to javaranch, a mock exam is simply a practice test and the simulations like JQuest are third party software which resemble actual exam not necessarily in all aspects, I suggest to get a taste of the exam before going into the exam by trying these simulations.

I purchased both, and really liked the
additional content links that JCertify provides
for each question, especially Professor Baldwin's
Java Tutorials and Bruce Eckel.
I personally found JCertify 4 to have better questions

I don't want to be picky, but I found the price the JQ+ to be
20$ and not 18$ as being discussed here.

a hui - You are correct. I guess Enthuware decided to raise the price. It's still a good bargain, considering their competitors cost 3x as much.
Paul Anil - Is there a reason why you decided to raise the price of JQ+ by $2.00?
-Peter
