Has anybody noticed any improvements or degradation in the JavaRanch reponse time in the last couple of weeks?
I notice quite a slowdown with quite a few "connection refused"s.

I had some trouble initially; my browser had cached the old IP, and was unable to realize that it should stop using the old address, and do a new lookup. But restarting the browser solved this problem; no problems since.
Note that if you had any problems on Friday night (or Saturday morning for you Euros) that was probably me. I did some maintenance stuff then, which turned out to take longer than I expected. During that time the ranch was unusable, you would've gotten the "ranch is down while we perform maintenance" message - and no new data available until the maintenance was done (an hour or so later). So if that's what you mean, that problem is accounted for, and won't recur. If you're talking about other instances of slow response but without the maintenance message - well, dunno about that.

It does seem slower in general although today it is quite a bit faster. But it is Sunday and probably it isn't too busy. I wonder if the slowness has anything to do with the move.

I have seen a slowdown. But it has been going slow for more than a few weeks. It usually takes about 30-45 seconds to post a reply and be taken back to the thread on a D3 at work.
