Hi,
I'm a bit confused I read in "a programmer's guide to java certification" that you need to score 71% in order to succeed the exam
and I just saw in the exam results forum that persons passed the exam with 64%
an eror in the book ?

The old exam required a 71%, but the new exam came out in Oct 2000 and now only requires 61%. The new exam also tells you how many correct answers to pick, but the old exam didn't.

Sun claimed that the level of difficulty remains the same. But initially they reduces time from 120 minutes to 90 minutes - that's probably was the reason for reducing the passing scores accordingly. However later they restored exam time to 120 minutes but left passing scores 61%. I can only suspect that less people could pass the new version within 90 minutes.

shailesh,
Since I last visited sun's site they have revamped the site and I don't see any of the details about exams. Anyone know what's going on?
Looks like they are planning to publish guidebooks about various certifications, but none are available yet. Also, they plan to sell mock exams. The sample questions aren't on a simple html page anymore. I figure the change must be really recent (page last updated sometime today) or there'd be more chaos in this forum.
