Yes it is true that he is an Indian citizen. He took the citizen in 1984 I think, not sure. BTW, he was born in Kolkata.

I often mistook "Prez" for Mr. Musharraf

What you have itemized is not really any revelation. It is a fact of life and there is nothing sad about it. If I am rich and powerful, why should I not try to see that my children maintain the same status? Wouldnt you?

However, where I beg to differ from MM and the above items is that I DO NOT oppress anyone lower than me in society or in the caste heirarchy. Infact I know of several people like me (of upper caste that is) who donate to charities that help the poor and oppressed. Now would you give me an answer for the following?

1. I am the one who is discriminated against when seeking a college education because of my upper caste status.. where is the debate about oppression then?
2. I am the one who is discriminated against when seeking a government job because of my upper caste status.. where is the debate about oppression then?
3. If rewriting or correcting history is the order of the day then lets go in chronological order backwards. Lets begin by destroying the British, the Portugese, then the muslims and then the Brahmins.

And you should concider about the amount of suppression they faced for centuries.It's a cry for many souls who just lived as dogs or cats,just for hardworking in lands for a one time meal.never got a chance even to think straight.It's a cry for a people who ran away from uppercasts becoz if uppercaste see them,they'll get brutal punishment.

At the threshold, a constitutional question arises and this has to be
satisfactorily resolved. Every Prime Minister has to be a member of
Parliament and the 84th Article of the Constitution prescribes

commencement of this Constitu-tion, every person who has his domicile in the
territory of India and -

(a) who was born in the territory of India; or

(b) either of whose parents was born in the territory of India; or

(c) who has been ordinarily resident in the territory of India for not less
than five years immediately preceding such commencement, shall be a citizen
of India".

The next five Articles qualify the leading Article in some way or the other.
The 11th Article then proceeds to declare that Parliament is free to make
provision with respect to acquisition and
termination of citizenship and all other matters relating to citizenship.
The 17th entry in the Union List of the 7th Schedule confirms the exclusive
power of Parliament to legislate on citizenship
naturalisation and aliens.

Mrs Sonia Gandhi is a naturalised alien. It is true that naturalised aliens
also become citizens of India by taking the prescribed oath of allegiance
but this became legally possible only in 1955 when
the Citizenship Act was enacted for the first time. Till then the only
citizenship known to Indian Law was the one arising under Article 5
reproduced above. The Hon'ble Home Minister of India,
Shri LK Advani is a citizen of India pure and pristine by virtue of Article
5 of the Constitution; Sonia Gandhi is not.
