+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
I'm not exactly an expert at Java so I don't know a whole lot.
That being said...what is JNLP? and what can it do for me?
Thanks.

Well, I don't know much about this either, but JNLP stands for for Java Network Launching Protocol

JNLP is Java Network Launching Protocol & API
What does it do for you?? Well, for one it provides an architecture for deploying java applications to the clients. Java Webstart is based on this technology and it allows launching of java applications thru a web server.
Get more details at http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/
Thanks,
Hema

Hi All,
JNLP is not a web service .
It is a protocol which is implemented by the Java WebStart which provides us to launch the thick client application from the web.
It also usefull to deploy the applications at client side. ans also very usful for multiple releases

Can someone give a very brief description of how to use it? I ejoy working with Java but sometimes it seems overly complicated in accomplishing it's simple goals. Do I have to buy and read a 300 page book just to deploy a thick client application from a web server, or is it a simple three step process (at least less than ten!)

How about reading three articles instead? Check this link for info on introductory articles on Java Webstart.

Thanks to everyone who replied. Maybe I'll have to use JNLP one day.
My first bit of advice is that if you are going to be a mime, you shouldn't talk. Even the tiny ad is nodding:
