Hi,
The http://java.sun.com/getjava page is a great way to get JRE 1.4.1 + JWS 1.2.
Despite what was written on the "preview" page(http://java.sun.com/getjava/install-windows.html), it was a *really* nice surprise to experience a true one click install (two indeed - the link then a single installation dialog).
This is exactly what we'd like for our application deployment!
Now, the problem is to propose the same kind of silent download and install for JRE/JWS on our clients intranets... with no Internet connection...
We tested the following ie only page that automatically downloads the JRE 1.4 + JWS:
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>My new applet page</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<OBJECT classid="clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93"
width=100% height=100
codebase="./j2re-1_4_1-windows-i586-i.exe">
<param name="code" value="HelloWorld.class">
<param name="archive" value="HelloWorld.jar">
<param name="cache_archive" value="HelloWorld.jar">
<param name="cache_option" value="Plugin">
</OBJECT>
</BODY>
But we don't know how to provide install options to the downloaded installer like setting the silent mode or imposing the install folder... if that's possible...
Has anyone succesfully provided such a "silent" install?
Has anyone a hint on how to provide those options?
Else, would Sun propose/sell a sort of "getjava package" to allow such "offline" installation?
Any idea/pointers greatly welcome...
I don't seem to be the only one that could be interested

regards
