i m new to the gaming world....but know java...can anybody provide me any information regarding how to code web based java games thru struts....

My advice would be to not do this. What kind of game are you wanting to create?

What are the technologies i should be using to make simple java games
1) with animation
2) without animation

Simple games are possible on the web (Struts? why?). See http://www.bibeault.org/blackbox/ for an example.

If you're talking about 1st-person shooters, that's another story...
