Yes. I am also shocked. Not good news. Since this message is been posted in JDC itself, I think it will get the attention soon.

Yes, I think this is more appropriate for 'Performance' forum.

I don't really find it that shocking, in the sense that it's not that unusual for people to find things wrong with something Sun's done. And I wouldn't be too optimistic about a prompt response from Sun - look at the dates of the messages, and look at how many messages are posted daily. For more examples of people complaining about Sun, check out the list of top 25 bugs. My favorite is this one, which has recently been "closed" as Sun offically acknowledged that they will never fix it. Gee, we could tell that over a year ago. When will the documentation be fixed though?
Sun has put out a lot of stuff for Java in the last few years, much of it for free. Much of it is good, some is not. Most gets fixed eventually, but the wait is sometimes frustrating.

i understand that one cannot expect sun to solve all the problems reported in the forums. but there are a few fundamental problems like the classpath related issues, which deserve sun's attention.the problem that the above url is talking about (it relates to something as simple/ basic as starting the j2ee server) appears to be random. there are so many porgrammers who have reported this obstacle.
problems sucg as this should, in my humble opinion, get some expert's attention. this would help a lot of people get o with their JAVA.
absence of a solution is frustrating (when u install/ deinstall java std ed and j2ee several times) when u r trying to evaluate the j2ee-based solution.
