I have read through much of the Dietel and Dietel Java How to Program book and I am currently beginning to study for the SCJP exam. In reviewing the material in Sybex's Complete Java 2 Certification Study Guide I realize that there are some gaps in my knowledge. I saw in other posts that people have similar feelings towards the Dietel and Dietel book that I have. Any recomendations on good companion books that I could get to help fill in the gaps?

Thanks,
Ryan

Deitel&Deitel is a good book for people with no programming background, easy to read and comes with lots of sample code. But in my opinion it doensn't cover the nitty-gritty stuff in Java which we will probably face in tghe rael thing.

Hi,
First get the basics into your brain. Then fine tune with the mock exams. Javaranch is a great place to start with and keep continuing.
Maha Anna's compilation is excellent. Try it out.
Even I am preparing for SCJP exam like u all.
