Hi - I have a system I am building using Ant. Sun compilers.
Have about 190 source files, and 4 jars are output from the build.
On the box I am using, when I build with 131 compiler, the full build runs in about 12-13 secs.
When I use 140 compiler, it takes 19-20 secs.
Has any one else seen this magnitude of hit between the two compilers?
Regards, Guy

I have no idea as the code should be the same (no 1.4 specific feature used). If you are really in strong need for performance in the compilation process, IBM has a little class that greatly improved the compilation speed !
It's name is JIKES :
Ibm's Jikes page as found by google
Try using it !
Please note that VM's version are not sufficient to find what JVM you use, as IBM has it's own set of home bread compiler which are usually a very good match to Sun's.
