Hi guys,

We are developing a system that allows users to download pdf files. the files are stored in a mysql database. the size of the files vary from 19kb to 5Mb.we are using Jboss 4.0.1.sp1 with tomcat as the server.

our problem is that on some of the files(not necessarily the large ones) the time it take for the web borwser to open the file is in the 10's of secondsrange, on our local network with acrobat already running. and for others it is a fraction of a second.
we have determined that the performance hit is not from the database. and we are flushing the data once it is recieved to the client.

if anyone has any ideas as to what might be causing the lag i would really appreciate any help you could provide.
thanks
Rob.

Why don't you use JMeter or a raw HttpURLConnection to see if the responses are taking any longer for those particular PDF docs?

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
