I am running tomcat, on a remote machine, but I can't seem to connect to the remote tomcat.
It works fine for local java program, but doesnt work either for tomcat on local machine or remote machine.

For local tomcat, I set set CATALINA_OPTS=%CATALINA_OPTS% -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=9007
bin/catalina.bat and then I used jconsole to connect to localhost, 9007

Bingo - the remote machine is NOT localhost. Only your local program is running on localhost. Use the network IP address of the Tomcat server machine.
