calculate RAM for java application-urgent

How could I determine how much RAM a java application could use? Any helpful pointers?

If you feel you need that kind of information Java shouldn't be your first choise really. Java requires you to be quite "slack" on systems requirements. If you need total control use C++.

The memory needed by Java application can be broadly classified into three main categories

#1 Memory used by the objects created in the heap
#2 Memory used by the Java libraries and binaries
#3 Memory used by the call stack

#1 tends to be the biggest and most variable part of application memory usage. Is that what you are trying to measure/estimate ?
