I'm not sure what the question has to do with performance, but all JDK docs have a page that lists the enhancements over the previous version; the one for JDK 1.5/5.0 is here.

J2EE has a number of additional APIs that are not part of J2SE, and which are primarily targeted at enterprise use. A good place to start reading up on that is the J2EE home page.
