i have a page that will display number of records received along with other information. what we want to dispaly all the information except number of records info on the page whenever user request for that page. number of records will be (x) in the start and after that it will be updated by firing the query using ajax at backend to improve the performance. is there any other way except ajax so that these query will be fired at backend and will display the result at frontend whenever it is available.

Any asynchronous call from a front end is AJAX. Since it sounds like you don't want to repaint the page, then yes - you should use AJAX.
